Map mods
Lodestar does not need a map mod. If you use JourneyMap or Xaero’s maps, Lodestar adds a few buttons to them automatically. There is nothing to set up, and nothing to install on a server.
| Map mod | Works with |
|---|---|
| JourneyMap | A recent JourneyMap for your Minecraft version |
| Xaero’s Minimap | The version Lodestar names in game |
| Xaero’s World Map | The version Lodestar names in game |
JourneyMap
Section titled “JourneyMap”- Open Lodestar: in the fullscreen map, press the star button labelled Lodestar in the addon toolbar.
- Choose a destination: open the popup for a waypoint or a spot on the map and choose Guide with Lodestar.
If your JourneyMap is older than Lodestar supports, the game says so when it starts.
Xaero’s World Map
Section titled “Xaero’s World Map”- Open Lodestar: press the Lodestar star in the left toolbar, just below Settings.
- Choose a destination: right-click a spot on the map or a saved waypoint and choose Guide with Lodestar. Saved waypoints also need the supported Xaero’s Minimap.
Xaero’s Minimap
Section titled “Xaero’s Minimap”In the waypoint list, select one saved waypoint and press Guide with Lodestar beside Done. If none or several are selected, Lodestar says “Select one waypoint, then choose Guide with Lodestar.”
Xaero’s mods change between versions, so Lodestar adds its buttons only to the one version of each it supports. With another version, Lodestar says in chat that its integration “is inactive for this map version” and names the supported version after “Supported:”. Everything else in Lodestar keeps working.
What Guide with Lodestar does
Section titled “What Guide with Lodestar does”- It guides you to the waypoint or spot, turns your guide on, and adds it to Places → Recent with the waypoint’s name. Save it from there to keep it as a place.
- It never changes the waypoint itself, and later edits to the waypoint do not change Lodestar’s copy.
- A waypoint in another dimension keeps its own dimension and coordinates. Nether coordinates are not converted to the Overworld. Lodestar guides you there through a learned portal if it knows one.
- A waypoint without a known height or dimension cannot be used. Lodestar says it could not use that destination, and nothing changes.
Opening Lodestar from a map does not change your destination. Done on the Lodestar menu takes you back to the map.
